We finished last half term with an entertaining assembly presented by girls in 5D. They shared a number of their own fables, written in English lessons, with parents and friends. The readings were accompanied by some acting skills as the girls worked together to share stories with important messages. We were impressed with the girls’ performance and presentation skills.

Following a good break during which we have all enjoyed the beautiful spring weather it was good to have everyone back at school. We started this week with our Celebration assembly where individual awards were presented for Viola exam and Street Dance exam success, Gymnastics, fencing and ice skating. Six Independent Learning Awards were given too, in addition to the weekly Well Done certificates.

Tuesday proved to be a busy day with a Physics workshop for Year 4 and a trip to Thinktank for Year 2.  Both of these experiences extended the girls’ knowledge beyond the curriculum. Taking advantage of the lovely weather our Eco Reps made a visit to the allotment to see how work is progressing on the new pond. They enjoyed seeing all the signs of the changing season whilst they were there. Some Year 6 parents were also pleased to join us to hear details of the forthcoming Netball Tour to Portsmouth.

In Westbourne our Reception girls have been busy too. They used their imaginations to create structures from boxes and their rocket ship was most impressive. They have also been practising their addition in Mathematics and planting beans as our topic this term is Growing. They are also enjoying preparing for their Parents’ assembly which will take place in several weeks’ time.

We have not had to travel far to join the world’s fashion weeks as Year 5 have been taking part in a French Fashion Show of their own as part of their Clothes and Uniform assessment. The girls were tasked with providing a French commentary for their partner describing uniform items and an additional fun fashion accessory from home. Fashion items included sunglasses, scarves, gloves, hats, berets and even a pair of unicorn slippers! The commentary was performed over the infamous Madonna hit 'Vogue'. There were also some impressive modelling skills on show. Watch out Chanel, Givenchy & Yves Saint Laurent!

Our week has ended with the Prep Young Musician of the Year Competition and the Year 1 Bodies Assembly which we will report on next week. We wish our cross country runners well in the competition on Saturday and look forward to the Rainforest Roadshow and World Book Day next week.
