Last Friday was a busy day in Prep. It began with an assembly from 1B based on their recent visit to Tamworth Castle. They told parents all about their day and what they had learned from the trip to the castle. It was clear that the outing had added much to their learning about houses and homes in History. We were all impressed by their confident performance and the singing of their own special version of ‘The Wheels on the Bus.’ The presentation was accompanied by a range of photographs.

In the afternoon, Year 3 girls were pleased to welcome Dr Shoja Assadi, a dentist from the Highfield Clinic, to EHS. The girls were curious to learn more about the subject they had been studying in Science this term and asked many thoughtful questions. They used a disclosing tablet to show them where the plaque was on their teeth before brushing it away using the methods they had been shown.

On Tuesday of this week, Year 4 made a visit to another historical site when they went to Selly Manor to extend their studies on the Tudors and how they lived. They are looking forward to sharing what they have learned with their parents in an assembly next week.

Much of this week has been focused on Christmas preparations. Year 2 presented their Christmas Nativity,’ Gabriel’s Big Break’ to girls in Prep and to their parents on Thursday. It was the turn of Westbourne girls on Friday who performed ‘Ralph the Reindeer’ to a very appreciative audience. These productions are always highlights of the Autumn Term at school and we will report more next week.

Another exciting event that took place this week was the first Tree Lighting event, organised by EHSPA. With snow, live reindeer, carol singing, hand bells and a visit from Santa it was a great start to the festive season.

Next week we look forward to welcoming parents to a number of events with Assemblies for Year 4 on Tuesday and 6G on Friday and to the Carol Service on Thursday afternoon at St George’s church. Parents are also welcome to support the Gala against Highclare School on Tuesday afternoon.
