We started this week with a special assembly to mark European Languages Day. In Prep we have so many different languages that we broadened our celebration to be World Languages Day. We were very proud of all of the girls’ involvement in the assembly and you can read more in the separate story.

Thursday gave a further opportunity for the older girls to perform when we held our first Teatime Concert of the year. The girls performed with confidence on a variety of instruments including violin, piano, clarinet and guitar and we were treated to several vocal performances.  We have watched these musicians develop over the years on their musical journey and it is wonderful to see the poise with which they perform.  We know many of them also enjoy the wide variety of opportunities on offer to play as part of an ensemble too.

At the end of the week we have enjoyed welcoming parents to join us for our coffee morning in support of Macmillan. There was a lovely atmosphere as parents were able to take a nice relaxed break out of their busy day to meet with each other. At break time the girls enjoyed their equivalent - a chocolate morning!  Our Charity Champions, Amelia and Asees, were on hand to host these events and our class monitors helped with the distribution of the biscuits.  We are grateful to everyone for their support of our event.

In our Celebration Assembly we congratulated a number of our sports stars. There were congratulations to Ayla for gaining her 200m award and to our more experienced swimmers, Cora, Izzy and Ava.  These girls all competed in the Boldmere Open Water Meet last weekend and returned with 8 medals between them and a number of personal best times.  Well done to all.

Two of our Year 6 girls, Amelia and Ellie, received trophies and medals for being runners up representing Birmingham City Netball U11 team in a competition in Nottingham. The dynamic defensive duo played in GK and GD positions. There were congratulations also for Waddiyah who received a Judo certificate for her hard work.

Three members of our Gardening Club received two awards presented to the school following the Guinea Gardens Summer Show.  We have an allotment at the Gardens and were delighted to have produced the heaviest potato and to have been voted the best allotment at the show. The girls harvested the bumper crops this week.

We finished assembly with our House Captains officially welcoming the new members of their Houses to join them.  They are looking forward to all of the House events and competitions ahead.

We are looking forward to all of our co-curricular clubs starting next week and hearing about the new opportunities and experiences the girls have.
