What a busy week we have had to end this term! It began with our Carol Service, on Monday, at St George’s Church where we welcomed parents and friends to join us. The Service featured our two choirs, readings, the Year 6 handbells ensemble, songs from the whole school and communal carols. The event was an opportunity for our Prep Department community to gather together and we are grateful to Reverend Flitcroft for his address.

On Tuesday, we welcomed the author Sam Langley-Swain to Prep. He spoke to everyone in assembly about his career in writing and publishing and then held a workshop for the girls in each year group.  We are all looking forward to reading the books he has published and will be on alert for his new titles which are being released in 2019.
There was a further performance for the girls in Years 2 and 3 to enjoy as they visited the theatre on Wednesday to watch Pinocchio.

Westbourne girls, in Nursery, Kindergarten and Reception have also enjoyed a festive week with Mince Pie Monday, Tinsel Tuesday and Woolly Wednesday. This was followed by Party Day for girls from Nursery to Year 6. It involved music and dancing, party games and hats and a puppet show from Major Mustard.

Thursday also brought an opportunity for girls to extend their learning when a group of Year 6 Scientists ran a Genetic Engineering Fair. This was the culmination of a packed two-week project and enabled girls in Years 1 - 6 to find out more about this subject. Their work is also being entered in a national competition and we wish them good luck.

We have finished the term with our celebration assembly and some festive fun featuring an array of Christmas jumpers and hats. I would like to thank everyone for their support of our events this term and wish you all a happy holiday. We look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Tuesday 8 January.
