Our week began with a trip back in time for Year 4 girls who visited Selly Manor to extend their knowledge of living in Tudor times. They enjoyed the experience of playing Tudor Games and wearing clothes of the time.
On Tuesday morning, Katerina Thomas, our Eco-Champion in Year 6 worked with Mrs Eveleigh to lead our Switch-Off Fortnight assembly. Girls in Prep are always keen to find out ways they can help the environment and they demonstrated their extensive knowledge during the session. They also showed their enthusiasm with the number of light switch plate entries to the competition. Zeenia Khan was inspired by the assembly to create a poster in her own time.
This week has also been National Road Safety Week across the country and girls in Years 1 – 3 were reminded of the safety rules for crossing the road. We also included keeping safe and applying the rules in car parks and other areas where there might be traffic.
Year 1 girls enjoyed sharing their work with their families during our two Open House mornings this week. We all enjoy welcoming parents to these informal events and look forward to seeing parents at the events ahead of us this term.
For Year 3 girls there was a visit from the dentist as part of their Science curriculum and we are grateful to Dr Jaz for taking the time to talk to the girls about this important topic.
The end of the week has been no less busy with our second gala of the term against Holy Trinity School. The swimmers were congratulated on their win by our Sports Captains who gave a report on the fixture during assembly. We are grateful to our swimmers, the teachers, parents and classmates who attended the gala to lend their support. Well done girls!
In our Celebration Assembly on Friday we also congratulated Lana Hashmi for her 20 metre swimming award, Jessica Hung on her merit in the Grade 5 piano examination and Florence Raistrick on her riding and stable management certificates and rosettes. There were thanks to everyone for their donations to Children in Need from our Charity Champion, Ava.
The results of the Switch-Off Fortnight competition were announced too with a huge well done to the 112 entrants. There were certificates for all girls and the winners chosen in each class. There were also awards for the overall winners in each year group. Well done to Mia in Year 1, Serina in Year 2, Nanki in Year 3, Imogen in Year 4, Robyn in Year 5 and Aiman in Year 6. We are looking forward to the new light switch surrounds being in place in the Prep School.
Next week we are looking forward to the arrival of the Stardome, the Guitar Ensemble Assembly and the Christmas Tree Lighting.
