We were pleased to see everyone back at school this week and were keen to catch up with news. This included checking with Year 2 girls if they had seen many butterflies during the holiday after learning about the Life Cycle of a Butterfly before the break. They had sequenced a series of pictures and used a scientific word bank to help to annotate the picture.

This week we have enjoyed a number of different activities and have also had much to celebrate in addition to many of our families celebrating Eid.

On Monday, Dr Suleiman visited to thank us for our contribution to City Road Food Bank which a number of our girls have been involved with.

We were also able to share the excellent results from the Hallfield Athletics Relay event which took place just before half term.  The two teams of lower and upper juniors worked extremely well together, and we brought home trophies for first place in both the Years 3 and 4 and Years 5 and 6 competitions.  Well done girls on some great running.

Other success to celebrate included news from several swimming galas.  The Swim Squad competed in a gala at Warwick School on Monday against several schools and finished a pleasing second.  Then on Wednesday Year 2 girls took part in their Inter House Gala.  After demonstrating a range of talents, involving swimming, resilience and teamwork the winning House was Nightingale to whom we offer our congratulations.

There were also presentations of Well Done certificates, Bikeability Level 2 awards, and individual awards to Ruth for Grade 3 piano, swimming medals for Grace and Isla, a trophy for Archery for Violet and a Fun Run medal for Asees. Congratulations to all.

Year 4 girls took a trip back in history to Tudor times when they visited Harvington Hall whilst Year 1 visited a venue closer to home.  They went to the Botanical Gardens to study the measures put in place to help children keep safe in the playground.

Looking towards next week we wish our Year 6 girls well for their residential trip and look forward to welcoming parents to school for Major Mustard’s workshop, Year 5 Gala and 1A class assembly.
