Prep School World Book Day Celebrations

Preparatory

07 March 2025

Supporting our girls to develop a lifelong love of reading is integral to life in EHS Prep. Reading is the key to unlocking learning and it was wonderful to see every single girl from Nursery to Year Six immersing themselves in every aspect of books and reading this week. Our World Book Day celebrations not only involved the opportunity to dress up as a favourite book character, but also a chance to take part in a competition to create a book in a box. The creations produced by girls from across the school were remarkable and the Prep Hall is now bursting with a wonderful array of different designs.

Our visit from author, Petr Horacek was a resounding success and the fabulous collaborative mural that Petr helped the girls to create is now proudly up on display in our Prep building.

It was wonderful to welcome so many families into school on Monday to experience our fantastic library. Miss Nelsey arranged a super event and we look forward to many more of these open library events.

On World Book Day on Thursday, two of our Year Twelve girls – Maya and Millie, who are English scholars, led a fantastic assembly. Breaktime was a chance for the girls to parade around the playground in year groups to show off the remarkable array of costumes celebrating their favourite book characters.

Mrs Hobson had the unenviable task of choosing winners from across the school for both their World Book Day Costumes and also for the Book in a Box competition. Special mention must go to Jashvita for a wonderful ‘Dogman’ creation and to Anna for an incredible ‘Very Hungry Caterpillar’ book in a box. Congratulations to everyone who took part!
