Prep Swimmers Make Waves at ESSA Finals
24 June 2022
Prep swimmers were up bright and early on Saturday morning, primed and raring to go as they headed out to the English Schools Swimming Association’s National Relay Finals for Primary schools.
Year 5 and 6 girls had qualified in the previous rounds at Warwick for both Freestyle and Medley Relays.
Freya, Risha, Sofia and Cora swam times that were outstanding, smashing their qualifying times by six seconds on the freestyle, and seven seconds on the Medley relay. They finished 9th in the country on the Medley relay and would have placed first on the Freestyle were it not for a controversial DQ on the Freestyle relay which could not be overturned.
It was truly an outstanding effort from all the girls who were cheered on very enthusiastically by our two other pupils, Freya and Annabel, who could not swim due to both having broken their arms!
Mrs Hayward, Miss Dawes and Mrs Roberts are extremely proud of the determination and resilience of our girls and we look forward to challenging for top spot next year!
