Tech rising star set to return for Speech Day
08 November 2019
Preparations are underway for Speech Day which will take place this evening, Friday 8 November. This event is a highlight of the school calendar and a formal occasion on which the school recognises the academic achievements of our most senior pupils and last year's Year 13 leavers.
This year's Guest Speaker is Old Girl Laura Chung. Laura left EHS in 2009 at the end of Year 13. She is currently an international marketing manager at PayPal, helping to enable businesses of all sizes to get paid online. Her work has spanned 40+ countries, where she has held global positions at Microsoft, comScore and a German based start-up.
In her spare time, Laura co-founded DevelopHer, a women’s network community in the UK, which has over 4,000 members and a social following of over 15,000. As part of DevelopHer, she actively encourages women in tech to develop their confidence and careers through community-based learning opportunities such as mentoring and coaching programmes. A highlight included inviting over 100 women to 10 Downing Street to attend a speed mentoring event. Her work for other women has landed her a place on The Drum’s ‘50 under 30 Women in digital’, the We Are the City Rising Star Awards and featured in The Sunday Times.
We are delighted that Laura will be joining us and look forward to hearing about her career.
