Last week, Year 7 and a range of pupils from our Dance, Drama and Music GCSE and A level courses visited Birmingham Hippodrome Theatre to see Birmingham Royal Ballet perform Sir Peter Wright’s famous production of The Nutcracker. This has become an annual trip for girls in Year 7 at this time of year as it marks the start of their composition and performance project based on the production.

This was the first time we have been able to run the trip since the pandemic. Girls were treated to the vibrant reworked sets and lighting for this magical production that has been running for almost thirty years.  The cast featured Beatrice Parma as the Sugar Plum Fairy, Enrique Bejarano Vidal in his debut role as the Prince and Karla Doorbar as Clara.  The girls very much enjoyed the performance and left the theatre not only enthused to start their projects, but feeling as though Christmas is most definitely upon us!

Thank you to all girls for their immaculate behaviour and etiquette at the theatre.  My thanks must also go to Mrs Ehiogu, Mr Berman, Miss Lawrence, Mrs Coley and Miss Roberts for their assistance and support on this trip.
