Year 3 Roman legions!
28 September 2018
Last week our Year 3 girls visited Lunt Fort in Baginton to extend their History studies on this group of invaders.
The Lunt is an early wooden Roman fort. Parts of it have been reconstructed so the girls were able to patrol the ramparts, train to march Roman style and act as Roman soldiers. The highlight of the day was dressing up as Roman soldiers and learning to fight with Roman shields and swords. This experience certainly helped to bring classroom studies to life.
Our Newshounds, Lily and Zaynab, asked the Year 3 girls about their experiences and report the following opinions:
Amanda’s favourite was looking round the museum and seeing people dressed up.
Sumayyah said, ‘My favourite part was fighting in the ring.’
Agatha, Bess and Emma all agreed.
Tanya and Askin enjoyed buying some souvenirs of their day.
Alayna bought a shiny eagle badge and enjoyed being a Roman and training as a soldier.
