Scientists enjoy museum visit

Sixth Form

30 November 2018

On Tuesday 20 November, 42 A-level Science students caught an early train to London and after a rush-hour tube ride arrived at the Science Museum. The girls spent the morning exploring the museum, in particular, hunting through the 1000+ exhibits in the Making the Modern World gallery to find artefacts linked to the areas of their Science studies that interested them.

After a quick lunch break, it was time to move to the Natural History Museum. To begin with, they spent time in the fantastic Life in the Dark visiting exhibition. Here, they came face to face with creatures who only come out when the sun goes down as well as those that live in the places it never reaches, such as caves and the deepest parts of the oceans. It also gave us insight into the methods scientists use to study them.

From there, we headed over to Covent Garden for an evening meal before catching the train back to Birmingham. A fascinating and fun time was had by the girls and teachers alike.
