Singing up a Storm
21 April 2023
We have really enjoyed hearing about the many activities and opportunities the girls have experienced during the Easter break. Ava, in Year 4, shared news of her residential week spent training as a member of the National Children’s Choir. Ava loves singing and this membership is allowing her to extend her vocal skills further.
Ava’s week took place at Bromsgrove School and included a mix of young people from age 9 - 20. She is in yellow choir, for pupils aged between Year 4 and Year 6, and she was performing as the youngest member of her group.
During the workshop she learnt six technically challenging songs which the Choir will be singing in a performance at Birmingham's Town Hall in August. The children will have a chance to perfect these songs at the next residential at the beginning of August.
Ava had the chance to see the older choirs in action during the residential and whilst there, also enjoyed a range of activities (all musically based) including a Cabaret evening, Sing - Along musical evening and musical pass the parcel! She also had lessons in musical theory, was given 1:1 singing lessons and sessions on vocal health.
Ava had a great time and made many new friends - she can't wait for the next camp!
