Sporting Inspiration at Girls Go Gold
27 September 2024
Last week, 15 EHS girls, across Year 11 to Year 13, headed to Dorset for an unforgettable Girls Go Gold 2024 event. Organised by the Girls’ Schools Association (GSA), the day promised a fabulous blend of fitness, fun and inspiration, celebrating elite young sportswomen from across the country.
The girls kicked off the morning with a range of practical sessions, including cricket, netball, and fitness, where university representatives from across the UK helped hone their skills and encouraged their athletic growth.
The afternoon featured two dynamic talks, starting with Sue Anstiss MBE, who spoke passionately about the importance of women’s rights and opportunities in sport over the years. This was followed by an insightful session led by current and former professional athletes, Georgia Lees (Netball), Elizabeth Cann (Badminton), and Jade Windley (Tennis), who shared a fascinating scientific perspective on goal-setting in the sporting world, empowering the girls to aim high.
A special shout-out goes to Millie H., who won a book prize for asking the most interesting question to Sue Anstiss.
With a line-up of inspiring keynote speakers, including Clare Balding CBE, and plenty of opportunities to learn and grow, the day was a resounding success. It was an amazing
experience that left the girls motivated and inspired for their own sporting journeys.
