Pupils learn in the Victorian Classroom
20 April 2018
To consolidate their studies undertaken in History lessons, Year 5 became time travellers and spent the day as Victorian school children.
Each girl dressed for the part which helped them to become a new character with a different name for the day. They were also greeted by some extremely severe
teachers!
Hands were washed with carbolic soap, girls (and boys) lined up outside the classrooms and the lessons began. Using pen and ink proved to be rather a challenge and no left-handed pupils were permitted to use their usual writing hands. Sitting up straight, with hands by sides and working in silence was the order of the day. The threat of the cane was always there for any misdemeanours!
Secretly, both staff and pupils were pleased when they could return to 2018 and have lessons return to normal!
