Year 11 take up an Easter Challenge
24 April 2020
For all of us at EHS, the abrupt way in which school had to close before the Easter break was difficult. However, for the students about to embark on the long lead up to their examinations in the summer, the extraordinary circumstances left them quite deflated and a little disheartened.
To keep spirits up and to take their minds away from some of the uncertainties surrounding the examinations, over the bank holiday, the Year 11s were set an ‘Easter Challenge’. They were offered the opportunity to show off their artistic skills and send a photograph of their finished product to be entered into the Easter Challenge Competition. Categories included: Culinary Skills, Photography, Sketching/Painting, Dancing, Music and anything else was included in the Miscellaneous category.
Over the long weekend, the students were busy baking, cooking, painting (on paper and nail art) sewing and were out with their cameras, whilst social distancing! The entries included a wide range of cakes, pizzas and biscuits, fine art, graphics and intricate nail art, sewing projects and nature photography.
The photographs below show a number of the winning and special commendation entries. These include:
Jessica Gannon – Chocolate meringue cake
Alisha Ejaz – Vanilla naked cake topped with fresh fruits
Aliyah Shah – Two-tier lemon cake
Amrit Dhillon – Easter cake
Helena Jagpal – Tandoori chicken pizza
Asmaa Choksi - Choc-chip cookies
Saihaj Boora and Rachael Mittoo for their nature photography
Onella Samuel-Thambiah and Aliyah Shah for their beautiful fine art
Jess Handley for her Photoshop art
Yi Bao for her intricate nail art
Hermione Hooper for her innovative remade shorts
Gracie McKeever for her sewing project for the NHS.
Well done to all participants, we loved receiving your photographs!
