Year 4's Culmington Manor Adventure
06 May 2022
Shortly after lunchtime on Monday 25 April, 49 eager (and slightly nervous) Year 4 girls left for a two-night stay in Shropshire. We arrived in brilliant sunshine and were shown to our dorms where, to our delight, there were bunk beds.
After a quick tour of the site the four groups began activities – abseiling and orienteering were tackled in the first afternoon. Once our delicious evening meal was over, we were excited to find ourselves testing our survival skills in the woods where we also watched a beautiful sunset over the Shropshire hills.
On Tuesday morning, we boarded a coach and headed towards the picturesque Carding Mill Valley for a hill walk to the waterfall. All of the girls persevered over the rough terrain with everyone managing to go over the waterfall to the top of the hill. Once there, we were rewarded with spectacular views and the sight of the wild ponies grazing.
The rest of our stay was spent at the Manor where we completed a challenging obstacle course, learnt how to use a bow and arrow, played wide games and took part in our own
mini Olympics. It was challenging but great fun. Everyone stepped outside her comfort zone and all experienced a feeling of pride in their achievements.
Wednesday morning started with eating an enormous breakfast, by far everyone’s favourite meal, followed by completing our round of activities and heading for home. Both staff
and pupils had a splendid time and we cannot wait for our next adventure.
