Year 7 Readathon Record Breakers

Over the course of the summer holiday, the new intake of Year 7 girls were invited to take part in a sponsored read. They were provided with a reading list including literary classics such as Peter Pan by J.M Barrie, The Wizard of Oz by Frank L Baum, Five Children and It by E. Nesbit alongside new releases by the likes of Katherine Randell.
Year 7 spent one September afternoon in their forms discussing the long lists of books they had read (while tucking into some sweet treats), writing ‘Tweet’ style book reviews and partaking in a book challenge quiz.
We are pleased to announce that Year 7 broke the previous record of money raised, raising an absolutely humongous £2,423.20.
Trophies were awarded to Imogen, Annabelle and Maryam for their outstanding contributions.
The majority of the money raised will go to Edward’s Trust, an Edgbaston-based charity that supports bereaved families. A smaller donation will go towards the purchase of another defibrillator.
