Year 8 Christmas Awards
13 December 2024
The Year 8 Christmas Awards Assembly was a festive celebration held to recognise the hard work, dedication, and achievements of students throughout the term.
The first part of the assembly was dedicated to subject awards. Several Year 8 students were recognised for their outstanding achievements in various subjects, including English, Maths, MFL, Drama, and Geography. A special mention was made for those excelling in languages such as Arabic, German, French, Spanish, and Mandarin.
In addition to subject awards, several Year 8 students were celebrated for their international achievements. Over the half-term, 18 students participated in a South Africa tour, where they swam and played netball at an international level. Students who had represented the school in these activities were awarded special pins.
A dance performance to the song “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” by Isla, Joanna, and Linda added an extra touch of entertainment and creativity to the assembly.
The EHS Angels awards were given to students who displayed outstanding organisation and excellent behaviour throughout the term. Students from all four forms (8H, 8L, 8M, and 8T) were praised for their efforts.
Merit certificates and attendance awards were also handed out, celebrating those who had shown dedication to their studies and maintained excellent attendance. Each week, a “Star of the Week” certificate is awarded to a student who has impressed teachers with their kindness or participation.
This Year 8 Christmas Awards Assembly was not just a chance to celebrate individual success, but also to reflect on the collective spirit of Year 8, filled with kindness, hard
work, and joy. The assembly ended with wishes for a Merry Christmas, and a reminder to continue embodying the school’s values in the new year.
