Year Six Shines in Olivia!

Preparatory

11 April 2025

Last week saw the culmination of much hard work when Year 6 girls gave three exciting performances of ‘Olivia!'

Olivia, as the name suggests, does have some similarities to the well-known story of Oliver Twist…. but with a few additional ‘twists’ along the way! Set in Victorian times, it traces the steps of young Olivia, from downtrodden orphan to star of the stage! On her journey to the bright lights of London, she is befriended by Eliza Doolittle and, after a series of adventures, becomes a singer in a new Gilbert and Sullivan show, thanks to the unlikely assistance of Fagin and The Artful Dodger! With friends such as Sherlock Holmes, Watson and Mr George Bernard Shaw, the heroine of the show is helped to find her way to happiness!

Our Year Six girls performed with tremendous confidence.... the acting was superb and the lines throughout were delivered with great timing and characterisation, not always easy for pupils of a young age! The singing of the solos and the chorus numbers added to the fun-filled performance. All pupils in Year Six took part and showcased their full range of singing, acting and dancing skills, whilst also building up a wealth of memories to last a lifetime. We are very proud of them all.

As always, the show was EHS teamwork in action both on stage and behind the scenes and we thank all the staff and students who were involved. A special mention to Miss C Robinson for leading the fantastic team with her calm, creative and thoughtful manner, to the entire Year Six team for their behind the scenes help and to Mr J. Meadows who directed the musical numbers and the live band who accompanied the show.

Huge congratulations to all!
