Asmita represents England at Badminton championships
08 December 2017
Year 11 student Asmita Chaudhari recently represented England at the U17 European Badminton Championships in Prague, competing in team and individual events over the course of the competition.
34 countries competed in the team event and Asmita and her team mates did well to fend off stiff competition, achieving a very respectable 3rd place and winning Bronze. At the group stage England beat Moldova, Israel and Portugal before beating Russia to secure a place in the semi-finals. Unfortunately, England lost out to Turkey 3-2 so didn’t proceed beyond the semis to the finals but were awarded with a Bronze medal for their efforts.
In the individual event Asmita reached the quarter finals, only losing out to the top seeds who won the tournament, and in the women's doubles she and her partner eventually lost out to the no.1 ranked German pair in the 2nd round. Asmita is still a year young for this age group so this was a fantastic achievement.
We enjoy seeing Asmita go from strength to strength in her Badminton - very well done!
