This certainly is the season to be jolly and we have had much to smile about in the Prep School during the last week. We have enjoyed ‘Gabriel’s Big Break’ performed by Year 2 girls and ‘Ralph the Reindeer’, the Westbourne production which included girls from Nursery to Reception. You can read more about these separately.

The girls have also been busy creating seasonal art which is much in evidence when touring the Prep School. There are robins, penguins and snowmen galore especially adorning the walls of the Westbourne classrooms.

We also had a bumper Celebration Assembly this week. We presented our Year 1 and 2 ‘Well Done’ certificates and individual awards to Jasmin for Gym and to Bonnie and Freya for swimming. It was a pleasure to announce the winners of several competitions too with Anna winning the PSHE Challenge to design a rainbow plate of food, and Alesha and Hawwa being placed second. Gold Certificates were also awarded to girls who performed extremely well in the Primary Maths Challenge. Congratulations to all.

The winners of the ‘Design a Light Switch surround’ competition were also announced with the year group winners receiving EFL keyrings. Well done to Mya Basra, Bonnie Batkin, Sophie Robinson, Amy Walker, Amaris Talati, Jorja Newling and to Sara Shah, the overall winner. Each of the other 50 girls who entered the competition received a recycled pencil and the light switch surrounds can be seen all round the Prep School reminding us to switch off lights as we leave a room.

Tuesday morning brought Christmas celebrations from the past with a performance of ‘A Tudor Christmas’ by girls in Year 4. The parents were delighted by the performances and the range of skills

At the end of Tuesday, the Swim Squad competed in a gala against Highclare School. This is the first time we have competed against Highclare and we were pleased to come away with an overall win for the squad. Well done to all swimmers!

Next week we have the annual Guitar Assembly, House Quiz, Christmas lunch and Party Day to look forward to.

I would also remind girls to finish writing their cards and post them in our box ready for delivery before the end of term.
