Classicists contemplate Ancient Athens

On Thursday 12 October, Classicists in Year 11 and 12 attended a lecture at the University of Birmingham.
Professor Tim Whitmarsh of Cambridge University delivered a talk on philosophy in Ancient Athens and explored how the landscape of the city might have affected the reception of Plato's lectures at the famous Academy. The talk was well suited to the knowledge and interests of all attendees, who ranged from school pupils to undergraduates, and reminded us that Classics is still a dynamic and relevant area of study.
