Chinese New Year celebrations

On Tuesday, we wished everyone in the Preparatory School a Happy Chinese New Year.
Girls in Westbourne enjoyed a range of activities and shared their experiences.
In Kindergarten pupils made Chinese lanterns using a range of materials. They also enjoyed seeing a lovely coat modelled by one of their classmates. In Nursery the girls practised ribbon dancing to Chinese music and also enjoyed wearing the lion/dragon’s head to dance with too. They also made paper plate pigs to mark the Year of the Pig.
The older girls explored how Chinese New Year might be celebrated and heard the traditional story of how the years are named. At break time they were very keen to find
out which Chinese year they had been born in.
