Classics Club marks Roman festival of Saturnalia
06 December 2019
Last Friday, Year 7 enjoyed the delights of a Roman feast in the Classics Department.
They sampled the likes of grapes, cheese, bread and honey followed by sweet treats of sponge cake and cheesecake. The girls extended their knowledge of the cena (Roman dinner party) beyond the classroom and enjoyed learning about the Saturnalia, the Romans’ equivalent of Christmas. They dared to sample bread with both cheese and honey and were delighted that the Roman diet included items like cheesecake! A fabulous time was had by all.
Happy Saturnalia!
