Musical Variety at Diva Night

Senior School | Sixth Form

08 July 2022

Against a fittingly dramatic and glamorous backdrop, the Music department’s long-awaited Diva Night performance took place on June 29 and was a huge success. The event was sold out and featured musical numbers from many famous - and some not so famous - productions such as The Lion King, Toy Story, Into the Woods, Beauty and the Beast, Company, Chicago, Sunset Boulevard, My Fair Lady, Light in the Piazza, Waitress, Tangled, Soho Cinders, Jekyll and Hyde and Mamma Mia.

This dazzling array of music and dance numbers was supported by EHS catering staff who put on a performance of their own in serving a three-course meal during the performance items.

We thank all the girls who took part in singing in the ensemble items, our dancers and Ms Lawrence for their choreography.  The Tech Team under the direction of Mr Berman have ensured that we have been audible and visible. Mrs Lucas has once again joined us to form a fantastic hair and make-up team to help prepare the singers and dancers. Mrs Coley and Ms Harris have ensured that the Octagon is decorated superbly and Mr Hall and his kitchen staff have prepared all of the food we have enjoyed this evening.

The wonderful artwork and photography has been created by Lauren Gillott in Year 12.

I would like to thank the Music Department staff, Mr Skilbeck, Ms Rogers, Mr Southall and instrumentalists from the Music Department for providing the Orchestral backdrop for this show.  Finally, a very special thank you must go to Gracie (Year 9) and Ms Cragg (Music Department Singing Teacher) for stepping into performance roles at the last minute when students became unavailable.

Well done to you all; we can now start to look forward to a full-scale production from September.  What a wonderful evening and an exciting way to end a very challenging year for the performing arts.

Mr. K. Robson
Director of Music
