Essay Success for History Student
08 July 2022
Congratulations to Year 13’s Fatima who has achieved fantastic success in this year’s Richard III Society Essay Competition. From the very beginning of her study of the Wars of the Roses as part of her History A-Level course, Fatima demonstrated real passion for the time period and this was only furthered when, in lessons, we began to study Richard III.
A divisive figure, character, she chose to write an essay entitled ‘To what extent does Richard III deserve his negative reputation?’.
The essay was a delight to read and showed incredible competence when handling primary sources, therefore the History Department suggested that she entered it into the Richard III Society Essay Competition for 2022. To our delight, Fatima was awarded second place. Feedback from the competition judges was very complimentary, judging that it was a ‘novel argument’ that had been ‘eloquently presented’.
Very well done, Fatima: we are proud of you!
