This Week in Westbourne

Westbourne

08 July 2022

Last week the girls in Westbourne had a special assembly ahead of National Thank You Day on Sunday 4 July. They talked about all the people who help them and different ways they could say thank you to them. Girls listed many people both in school and at home who do things to help. Together, everyone learnt a new song! Each child was then given a thank you card template to decorate and give to someone of their choice.  We are sure many parents enjoyed receiving these.

Summer and the upcoming holidays have been a focus in Westbourne this week as the girls have enjoyed their learning and playing together before the break.
They also enjoyed their Changeover Morning on Monday. We welcomed all of our new pupils to join us to meet their new teachers and classmates and to spend time in their classrooms before joining us in September.

Kindergarten activities this week have included a summer walk in the Botanical Gardens where they identified colourful flowers, bees and butterflies. They also enjoyed exploring the playground. Back in the classroom they created summer theme collages and made pipe cleaner dragonflies. They also shared ways to stay safe in the sun.
In Reception the girls have enjoyed reading stories about frogs this week. They have also looked at non-fiction texts to learn about the life cycle of a frog. This is just one of many animals they have studied in their ‘Creatures Great and Small’ focus this term.

We wish everyone a happy holiday and look forward to hearing about their adventures when they return in September.
