Economics student attends IEA prize event
11 October 2019
In a previous edition of Friday Headlines we reported the news that Year 13 student Davina had been shortlisted as a finalist in the Institute of Economic Affairs’ (IEA) Essay Competition.
Whilst she missed out on the top spot, her entry was judged to be one of the top 10% of entries and she was congratulated for a “fine and thoughtful piece of work”.
Davina recently attended a special lunch and prize giving ceremony at the IEA building in Westminster. She said: “The event had drawn international interest and on the day guests had come from as far afield as India and Washington to receive their prizes.
“Over the course of the day there was a talk on the IEA and its work, and another talk titled “Economics and the public Welfare today” delivered by Dr Stephen Davies, the IEA’s head of education. It was a lovely event. Overall, this has been an amazing experience for me.”
