Jubilee Trees
27 May 2022
On Tuesday 24 May, the Prep School Eco Reps began EHS’s celebrations for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee at the school allotment.
Our Eco Reps from Year 1 to Year 5 walked down to the school allotment, which is situated in The Guinea Gardens, and planted two Jubilee Plum Trees. The trees will form part of the Queen’s Canopy. EHS is very proud to be part of this exciting project where the Queen wants as many people around the UK to plant as many trees as possible as part of her birthday celebrations.
EHS has collaborated with The Guinea Gardens Committee on this exciting project and we hope the trees will be part of the community orchard, which is attached to the allotment, for many years to come.
The EHS Eco Reps thoroughly enjoyed being part of this project and loved getting messy in the process. They enjoyed filling the holes with compost and top soil before watering the trees to ensure they were firmly in place.
The school and The Guinea Gardens have bought commemorative plaques so visitors and all the girls in school can take a look at the Jubilee Trees when they next visit the
allotment with their class.
