Mock Trials Get Green Light

Sixth Form

28 January 2022

We were pleased to hear the news that Young Citizens, the organiser of the annual Independent Schools Mock Trial Event, had confirmed that the competition will go ahead, but in an online capacity.

The Independent Schools Mock Trial competition is designed to help young people understand how the law touches every aspect of their lives and gain an insight into how the legal system works. Taking part is a fun and engaging experience for students that helps them to think critically, build arguments and boost their confidence. Open to 15-18 year olds at independent schools in England, teams are made up of 10-15 students with a team of four barristers, four judges, a clerk, an usher and jury members. Each student is given specific guidelines on how to prepare for their role and presented with a prosecution or defence case.

EHS students from Years 11-13 have been assigned their roles and preparation work is well underway whilst we await a confirmed date for the event.
