Musical maestro
02 March 2018
Rebecca, one of the Prep Music prefects, has once again demonstrated her musical prowess with success in a prestigious event. April, our Newshound, interviewed her to find out about her experience.
During half term Rebecca auditioned for the Bromsgrove Young Musicians’ Platform, playing the piano. The auditions took place in Routh Concert Hall at Bromsgrove School on Thursday 22 February. Rebecca was taking part in the Junior Section for 9 – 13 year olds.
The judges, Malcolm Green, Catherine Benson, Jamie Phillips and Alastair Moseley, had the difficult task of adjudicating and Rebecca was delighted to hear that she had been selected as one of five finalists.
The finals took place on Saturday 24 February. During the performances of the other competitors Rebecca sat backstage awaiting her turn, feeling both nervous and excited. Finally, it was her turn and Rebecca played Sinfonia by Bach and Toccata by Khachaturian.
She was extremely pleased to be awarded second place and £400 towards music related activities and we are very proud of her achievement.
Rebecca then entered the auditorium to watch the Senior competition. When her older sister, who was also a pupil in the Prep School, was announced as the winner Rebecca was delighted.
We look forward to hearing Rebecca play at the Prep Young Musician competition and congratulate both girls on their success.
