Netballers on Tour
18 March 2022
On Friday 11 March, 37 intrepid netballers from Year 5 and 6 set off, bound for Condover Hall with Mrs Aston, Miss Brown, Mrs Batchelor and Mrs Florance. This was their first school residential trip, given the restrictions we have faced over the past two years and there was huge excitement in the air!
Kitted out in their black and pink tour hoodies the girls were greeted by JCA staff who showed them to their dormitories before a quick tour of the site. Then the vast range of adventurous activities began with girls taking on the high trapeze and aerial track. After the first of many delicious, nutritious meals, the evening started with a netball coaching session followed by a whole host of centre activities. Then it was off to bed to prepare for an action-packed Saturday!
Across Saturday and Sunday our Year 5 teams (Opal and Citrine) and Year 6 teams (Sapphire and Ruby) played against schools and netball clubs from across the country. The teamwork, sportsmanship and resilience on show was exceptional and game on game the girls’ netball skills and experience flourished. At the close of the Year 5 competition Team Opal was announced as runner up (out of 11 teams) with Team Citrine close behind in 3rd place. Both Sapphire and Ruby moved through to the next stage of the Year 6 competition and, despite tiredness, finished mid-table amongst a strong field.
The teachers were beyond proud of the girls’ behaviour over the weekend and their versatility to play any position on the netball court. The tour was full of happy memories,
laughter and fun on the netball court!
