EHS singers join Russell Watson in concert
12 January 2018
Birmingham Voices is a professional choir, lead by our very own Choir Master Richard Skilbeck and his colleague Chris Passey. Earlier this year Mr Skilbeck and the EHS Deputy Director of Music, Mr Southall, worked on acclaimed English tenor Russell Watson’s UK tour and we were delighted to see EHS students Charley Johnson and Esther Simkiss joining Birmingham Voices for this very special Christmas Concert.
Birmingham Voices performed at the Barbican Hall in London alongside the London Concert Orchestra as part of the ‘Christmas with Russell Watson’ concert on 23 December 2017. This concert included a wealth of Christmas, popular and classical music. A particular highlight for the choir was their rendition of the Hallelujah Chorus.
When asked about their experience, Esther said, “Charley and I felt privileged to be able to participate in the Russell Watson concert at the Barbican. It was a pleasure to perform with Birmingham Voices with such a prestigious artist.”
Colleagues and students from EHS will be joining Birmingham Voices and Russell Watson again for the first three dates of his next UK tour in February and March.
