Pancake Day teamwork

Preparatory

16 February 2018

In preparation for Pancake Day a Year 5 class visited the Senior School Food and Nutrition department to make Recette Crêpes, a French version of pancakes.

Girls were given the recipe with ingredients and instructions written in French which extended both their language and culinary skills. They worked together very well in groups to make, and eat, the crêpes topped with lemon juice, sugar or chocolate spread. They were grateful to have a number of Senior girls on-hand to assist.

Next came the competitive element when all girls in Years 1 – 6 took part in the Inter House Pancake Race. On Tuesday morning in assembly time everyone gathered in Senior School Hall for the event. Miss Brown asked Year 6 to begin so that they could demonstrate to the younger girls as this was a first for Year 1.

Inter House events are always keenly supported, and this was no exception with passionate cheering on of Housemates. This year Frank House was victorious with wins in every year group. Perhaps they have been practising secretly! Our congratulations to all girls who represented their Houses very well.
