Years 7 and 8 put Thinking Skills into action

Senior School

16 February 2018

Last week in our invitational Thinking Skills Club, Gifted and Talented pupils in Years 7 and 8 took on the ‘Paper Chain Challenge’.

The aim of the challenge was to make the longest paper chain using just one sheet of A4 paper, scissors and glue and each of the four teams took slightly different approaches to the task. The Red and Blue teams from Year 8 took an early lead, using very thin paper strips to make their paper chains which measured over 3 metres in length! However, the Green team of Year 7 pupils went for a more original idea, cutting from the centre of the paper to create one huge circle. Although not a conventional paper chain, it was longer than all the others and definitely the most original method, and demonstrates exactly what the Thinking Skills club is all about.

The challenge culminated in the Red and Green teams being declared the joint winners. Well done to all the girls who took part.
