This week we welcomed back our Year 6 from their adventure at Boreatton Park which you can read more about in the additional article. They clearly enjoyed the wide range of activities they took part in.

In school this week has been test week although the children have still enjoyed taking part in clubs and have continued with their full range of curriculum subjects. In Year 2, girls have been working with clay and, although initially it was hard work moulding and rolling the clay, the girls all worked well to create an amazing colourful and textured fish.

Year 3, meanwhile have been learning about pollination. The girls made their own paper bee and used them to transfer pollen from one flower to another.

It has also been a busy week on the sporting front, which started on Tuesday afternoon. Year 6 thoroughly enjoyed an afternoon playing squash and tennis at Edgbaston Priory Club as part of an exciting enrichment programme this term. Girls remarked on what a treat it was to spend their afternoon learning new skills and competing in fun new games with their friends.

Then later in the evening of Tuesday Years 3 to 6 Swimming Squad competed in a friendly swimming gala against Balsall Common Primary School. EHS pool was packed with many parents from both schools supporting the swimmers. The buzz of excitement could be heard from afar. Well done to all EHS swimmers who competed with a smile on their faces.

On Wednesday afternoon, our Year 6 Cricket team took part in their first cricket match of the season at Hallfield School. Girls worked well as a team and played with determination and good humour. They are now looking ahead to a pairs cricket tournament next week.  Well done to all of our sportswomen.

In our Celebration Assembly, we congratulated our Year 1 and 2 girls with their Well Done Certificates for a range of endeavours. Amaya, in Year 4 was presented with her 100 metre swimming award and Catrin, in Year 6, with her medals for achievement in skiing. There were Independent Learning awards for Year 6 girls for their individual projects on topics of personal interest and we also presented awards to India and Ciara for Independent research posters on Saving the Earth and aspects of Chinese culture. Jashvita in Year 1 has been awarded a Headteacher’s certificate for her fundraising efforts for Birmingham Dogs’ Home.
