On Friday of last week, a team of Year 6 swimmers took part in the ESSA relay qualifiers. We are delighted to announce that they have qualified for the finals of the freestyle relay having finished top in the Midlands region. They will now focus on their freestyle training in preparation for the finals which take place in June in Sheffield.

Other achievements were celebrated in assembly on Monday when we presented the Well Done certificates to Year 1 and 2 girls and individual awards to Beatrice for completing 21 Junior Park runs, Navya for Gymnastics and Seren for two styles of dance.  We also congratulated our mathematicians in Year 6. Having taken part in the Primary Maths Challenge in the Autumn, 17 of them qualified for the Bonus Round with two Silver awards and 9 Bronze awards gained. Well done to all.

Spring has featured much in the Prep School this week with the Nursery girls studying flowers at close hand and making detailed drawings.  In House assemblies in the Prep Department the Captains encouraged their Housemates to make some 3D flowers.  Nursery also marked the festival of Holi with some colourful paintings.
Food has featured in studies too.  Reception girls have studied the work of the artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo. They then made their own vegetable faces!  In Year 1 girls designed, made and evaluated healthy sandwiches in Design Technology lessons, which links to work on keeping the body healthy which they have been learning about in Science lessons and instruction writing which has been a focus in English lessons.

On Wednesday, Year 6 Netball Squad took part in the GSA Tournament hosted by EHS.  Seven teams took part with Cranford House being the eventual winners.  Millie, our Games Captain, said the girls played well as teams and there was much good defending, shooting and interception in evidence.  Some of the girls also played in different positions and it was clear that the Tour to Portsmouth had given them an opportunity to develop their skills further.

We are all looking forward to Prep Party at the close of this week.  Year 4 are excited about their trip to Culmington which is fast approaching, and we are sure Reception parents will enjoy the special assembly in Prep Hall next Friday.  We also wish our Karate girls well in their exams next Friday evening.
