Senior School crowns Musician of the Year

Senior School | Sixth Form

22 March 2019

Following the Prep competition two weeks before, on Thursday 14 March Senior School students from all key stages took part in the Musician of the Year competition.

The competition is aimed at the school’s instrumentalists and singers, and students are allowed to enter with a piece of music in any style. Over the course of eight weeks, the music staff heard hundreds of auditions, eventually selecting the finalists to perform for an independent adjudicator in a concert in the Octagon.

Throughout the entire event, the adjudicator Mr Tom Pankhurst witnessed technical and musically assured performances from all of the finalists. He then had the unenviable task of selecting a winner from each category. During his deliberations, Caitlin Kisumba, who was the winner of this accolade last year, performed the first movement of the Haydn Violin Concerto in G major.

I would like to thank and congratulate the following students for their excellent performances:

Maia Kanagaratnam, Carmen Sanchez Diamente    , Lily Mobasher, Shanya Kulatunge, Esha Binning, Simran Sahota, Amelie Moylan, Annissa Karimov, Gracie Herbert, Isabella Birch, Zoha Sohail, Georgina Day, Megan Hardiman, Naomi Okafor, Mary Smith Holmes, Madeleine Howl and Teresa Nguyen
