Preparatory

22 March 2024

What an action packed term this has been with many achievements and events to be proud of. One of these includes the Whole School Ensembles Concert which took place on Monday evening this week.  It was wonderful to feature girls from Year 1 to Year 13 and to see them working together to make music.

Year 1 girls enjoyed a trip to Thinktank this week having also welcomed their parents to join us for our Open House mornings. Meanwhile in Year 2, the girls were taking part in the Times Table Rock Stars inter-form challenge which was won eventually by 2R.  They also enjoyed making cards for Easter in between the tables battles.

Year 3 have been working hard on their Science lessons on magnet strength with a variety of investigations and have enjoyed a visit to the Science Lab, ahead of Year 4 too.  Here they carried out a number of experiments which included using the teachers’ teabags!  STEM subjects are always exciting in the Prep School.

Year 5 Gardening Club also started back this week and it was good to return to our allotment.  The girls were keen to be out in the fresh air.  Our Year 6 girls have been working hard in preparation for their production of ‘Robin and the Sherwood Hoodies’ to take place early next term.  They have also been putting the finishing touches to their animation projects using iPads for filming the mini dramas.

We have finished the busy term with our Celebration Assembly with much to celebrate indeed.  Firstly, we congratulated our Swimmers, Ava, Charlotte, Ellise and Eliza who have qualified as a team for the ESSA finals in Sheffield in June in both the medley and freestyle relay finals.  They will competing against the top swimming schools in the country.  We also presented a number of individual awards to Eliza, Emily, Tara, Rihanna, Gurbani and Denver for their varied swimming endeavours.

Our gymnasts have been busy too with awards for Jiya and Alaia and to Holly.  They are enjoying their gymnastics and are progressing well too.  The results of our Inter-House Netball competition caused excitement too with the overall winners of the Year 5 and 6 tournaments held recently being Frank House.

Other congratulations were announced for the recipients of our Certificates of Achievement for academic efforts and the winners of the Courtesy Counts prizes for commendable behaviour.  Sisters Imogen and Jessica were also commended on their excellent music awards for achieving Merits in their Grade 3 and Grade 6 Piano Performance examinations.

Our Charity Champions are also to be congratulated for all of their hard work this term.  They were pleased to announce the total of £445 for our Red Nose activities and enjoyed weighing the class contributions to the Bunny Bucket Challenge for the term.  They will announce the total next term with the donation being sent to Cancer UK Research as voted for by the girls.

We are very pleased with the entries we have received for the British Science Week Poster competition and we would encourage others to submit entries for our internal event too.  These can be completed over the holiday as can the French music competition launched by Madame Hennous.  Details for both of these can be found on Seesaw.

Wishing you all a happy holiday.
