Girls have been pleased that many of their co-curricular activities are now well under way. This week they have enjoyed their first LAMDA lessons with nearly 150 girls involved. Fencing, ballet, basketball, karate, Strictly Dance, Gardening, Netball and Swimming clubs have allowed girls to begin their physical activities. All of our Music ensembles, including String Group, Flute Group, Guitar Ensemble, Orchestra and our three choirs are meeting regularly too and already learning new pieces soon to be performed. Next week all of our other activities will begin and the girls will have the chance to develop new skills and further hone existing ones.
Another very important aspect of school life is the girls’ friendships and we have focused several of our assemblies this week on the value of friends and how to treat them. It is lovely to see everyone playing in the playground.
We all celebrated Languages Day on Tuesday. Girls and staff from Kindergarten to Sixth Form gathered in the Octagon for our special assembly to enjoy a range of performances in a wide variety of languages. There were welcome and hello greetings, songs, dances and facts about our multi-lingual school community. The assembly finished with a Good Morning song from our youngest pupils in Westbourne who used sign language to the words whilst they were singing. We are grateful to Khushi and Zoe, our Language Leaders in Prep for their involvement.
Year 3 enjoyed our first outing of the new academic year as they visited Lunt Roman Fort this week. This trip extends their History Studies on the Romans. It is a practical, hands-on experience and we look forward to reporting more next week.
We welcomed our Year 6 parents into school this week for their Parents’ Evening meetings and we are looking forward to many parents ending the week with us at our Macmillan Coffee morning. We hope that Year 1 parents are looking forward to ‘dropping in’ to our Open House mornings next week on Wednesday and Thursday.
Can you believe it is nearly October already?
