Proud Representation on Culture Day

Senior School | Sixth Form

29 April 2022

In the final week of the Spring Term, EHS staged its first Culture Day. The event, devised entirely by Sixth Form students, was a celebration of the rich and diverse cultural mix within our school community.

The centrepiece of the day was an extended assembly presented by the pupils which consisted of a fascinating look at the history of multiculturalism in our city and in the wider nation, superb dance performances, poetry and a cultural fashion show, in which students from across all year groups took part in a catwalk style event wearing clothing that represented an aspect of their culture.

There were also cultural activities in some lessons, particularly in P.E., in which Year 9 students had a single lesson to choreograph a dance style from around the world.  We also got to enjoy a charity samosa sale at break time, followed by a street food style lunch.

It was a truly special event and, we hope, the first of many. Well done to everybody who took part.
