Senior School Excellence Book

Senior School | Sixth Form

We are constantly amazed by the high quality of work produced by pupils of all ages here at EHS. In recognition of that talent and hard work, each term teachers are asked to nominate outstanding or excellent work to the Excellence Book. This term, we have once again seen work of an extraordinarily high calibre produced by girls in every year and across a range of subjects. Congratulations to the following students:

 

ENGLISH

Sarah Gray, Jemima Harlin, Lottie Holloway (Y7 at the time)

For producing a wonderful animation of the Marriage of Sir Gawain. They used the stop, motion app and took over 200 photos to create their animation.

Harleen Garcha (Y9)

For a wonderful, powerful and heart-rending internal monologue inspired by ‘The Wheel of Surya’. Harleen used phrases and descriptions that conveyed a clear picture of the unfolding story. Outstanding!

Alyzah Hussain (Y9)

For an excellent task based on the novel ‘The Wheel of Surya’. Alyzah captured the voice of Marvinder beautifully and expressed the conflicting emotions with conviction. Fabulous!

Manahil Saeed (Y9)

For an outstanding piece of work on the book Lord of the Flies. Her analysis was excellent and the level of detail was superb.

Orlaith Johnson (Y9)

For producing superb, detailed work on William Golding's ‘Lord of the Flies’, that shows an excellent understanding of authorial techniques and themes.

Seundi Watowita (Y9)

Excellent effort and understanding of the novel ‘Lord of the Flies’ by William Golding; Senudi powers through tasks and shows a great insight into authorial purposes and techniques.

Luyang Wang (Y8)

For producing excellent work based on the effects of language utilised by Charles Dickens in ‘A Christmas Carol’.

Eleena Ahmed (Y9)

Eleena has shown unstinting enthusiasm and fantastic effort in her study of ‘Lord of the Flies’ this half term; her is work is outstanding. I am delighted with Eleena and I think she has the potential to be a real star in this subject.

Guneet Jandu (Y9)

Superbly informed, nuanced analysis of the techniques that Golding deploys in the novel ‘Lord of the Flies’.

FOOD & NUTRITION

Tanvi Hebballi (Y10)

For a fabulous Chocolate Swiss Roll. Tanvi expertly created a moutwatering cake which quickly disappeared.

GEOGRAPHY

Siana Zacheva (Y7)

For going above and beyond with her geography homework, where she was asked to choose an item that reflects wealth around the world. She created a poster on how people’s gardens differ, looking at various families around the world. Siana has clearly put a lot of effort into her poster.

Ruqayyah Hanif (Y9)

For writing an excellent story on ‘A journey to the Centre of the Earth’ – including lots of detail on the layers of the earth and an entertaining plot.

Sophia Patel (Y7)

For her excellent contributions to the Antarctica role play. Sophia was a great team player, going first when no-one else in her group wanted too. Giving detailed and informed ideas and also asking thought-provoking questions to other groups – well done Sophia!

HISTORY

Charis Tai (Y9 at the time)

For an extremely impressive History presentation completed in June 2022 on Ho Chi Minh. Charis presented her findings to her classmates and enjoyed developing her research skills further.

Sofia Iemelianova (Y9 at the time)

For a superb presentation on the Medici family. Sofia did an incredible amount of research and is particularly interested in the intrigue that surrounds the Medici family.

Hannah Gray (Y9 at the time)

For an incredibly thought provoking presentation on how the 2020s will be remembered by historians. She even tackled the question ‘what is history’ and showed an impressive level of knowledge.

Olivia Parker (Y9 at the time)

For researching and presenting to her class an informative and interesting piece on Alcatraz. Olivia spoke with knowledge and clear interest on her chosen topic.

Cicely Hodge (Y13)

For an outstanding presentation on feminist theories about Sex and Gender. Cicely’s political knowledge on feminism was evident and her in-depth presentation fascinating.

Zoe Teredesai (Y8)

For producing a fantastic research project on the key features of the Second World War.

Emily Addis (Y9 at the time)

For an excellent and incredible presentation on the mystery of The Skeleton in the Woods. Emily’s ability to discuss this mysterious death was off the chart!

Holly Gooch (Y9)

For excellent consistent effort in History.

Tiffany Latham (Y9)

For deciding to complete a 10 mark GCSE style question on Emily Davison as extra homework. It was well substantiated and passionate.

MATHEMATICS

Scarlett Clover, Hilde Perkins (Y8)

For creating a ‘Catchy and informative’ video on how to calculate speed.

MODERN FOREIGN LANGUAGES

SPANISH

Darasimi Akingboye an Lucy Coleman (Y10)

For completing all the Active Learn Spanish revision tasks set to be completed during the summer holidays. Both girls attribute their success to hard work, perseverance and resilience in the face of technical glitches!

Alyzah Hussain (Y9)

Alyzah has produced an outstanding piece of writing about how she spends her free time in Spanish. The content of writing is not only interesting, but also full of complexity. Alyzah has included a range of tenses that she has not been taught, including the subjective, which is normally taught in full at A level. This is simply outstanding. Well done Alyzah.

 

SCIENCE

PHYSICS

Elsie Fraser, Alyzah Hussain (Y9)

For an excellent video on the life and work of Dr Lalitha for Physics

OTHER

Isabel Jones (Y13)

For being selected to be an RSS Youth Ambassador. This is a prestigious position, with numerous duties and Isabel is looking forward to the challenges this role will bring.

Gursharan Bhamra (Y13)

For speaking at the Autism Show at the NEC on the topic of ‘Autism in the BAME community’. Gursharan is incredibly motivated about all things related to equity, diversity and inclusion. And her drive for inclusion shines through.

Jaya Dhaliwal and Dhruti Modhvadia (Y11)

Both pupils demonstrated excellent leadership skills in the Prep activity they helped to organise and were natural teachers with Year 6.

Manpreet Athwal, Alessandra Belli, Deniz Budak, Lucy Coleman, Amber Gill, Zara Hussain, Hafsah Mahmood, Layla Majid, Nancy O’Neill (Y10)

For a prize awarded for the Citizenship task during PSHEE week.

Erendeep Chahal, Sana Kumar (Y13)

For running three consecutive Dance sessions on the MFL Dance afternoon – they were the best sessions of the day and were so well thought out and planned and were thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Isla Batchelor, Jemima Harlin, Grace Moran, Lily Wang (Y8/7)

For being part of the U13 ESSA team that came 15th and 17th in the country at Freestyle and Medley Relay.  They had a fantastic time at the olympic pool and gained a Personal Best.
