Speech Day celebrates success

Sixth Form

17 November 2017

On Friday 10 November, members of the School's Governing Body, parents, teachers and students gathered for our Speech Day in the University of Birmingham’s Great Hall in order to celebrate our GCSE and A Level success, and to present certificates to our most recent leavers whom we were delighted to welcome back.

Music was provided by the Senior and Chamber choirs, and addresses were made by Sir Dominic Cadbury, President of the School, and Mr Jeremy Payne, Chair of Council. This was followed by a speech from Dr Weeks and the Head Girl and Deputy Head Girls Holly, Eve and Laura. Sioned Gill, last year's EHS Poet Laureate, kindly shared a poem she had written for this special occasion.

We were delighted to be joined by Lara Fatah (Old Girl 2001), who served as the evening’s Guest Speaker and Prize Giver. Lara delivered an inspiring speech, sharing with the audience her experiences in her career to date and offering sage advice to the girls as they embark on life beyond EHS. We would like to extend our grateful thanks again to Lara for giving her time so generously.

The ceremony closed with a Vote of Thanks from the Head Girl and a presentation of flowers to the speaker, offered by the Prep School’s Head Girl Hannah Padley and Deputy Head Girl Kiri Bayall.

The evening was a fitting occasion at which to welcome back our newest group of 'Old Girls'; we wish them well in their endeavours after EHS and look forward to welcoming them back into school again in the near future.
