Taking on the Junior Maths Challenge

On Wednesday 27 April, pupils in Years 7 and 8 took part in the UKMT Junior Mathematical Challenge. This gave them the opportunity to solve a range of interesting problems using mathematical reasoning, precision of thought and fluency.
Below is an example of the style of question they were tackling. Would you be able to solve it?
The girls rose to the challenge and gave very good performances. Well done!
