Tuesday 6 February was Safer Internet Day. This year’s slogan is “Create, Connect and Share Respect: A better internet starts with you”. Safer Internet Day provides a perfect opportunity to talk about the pros and cons of using the internet and school will be participating in a number of activities over the course of next week relating to this year’s theme.

At home you might like to consider a family agreement as a way to start a conversation with your whole family about how you all use the internet and discuss together how to behave in a positive way when online at home, at school or at a friend’s house.

There are some great resources and websites with suggestions and advice about all things internet related such as ‘Parentzone.org.uk’. This website checks the best available advice and information on all of the issues that are caused or amplified by the internet and provide advice and training to parents and professionals in order to improve outcomes for children in a digital world.

Digital Awareness UK also have some great resources and videos for parents and children addressing a variety of relevant issues concerning internet use.
