On Thursday 5 January, Year 1 girls set off to the Town Hall to watch a live performance of The Gruffalo, adapted from the famous story by author Julia Donaldson. After having a sandwich lunch in their classrooms the girls boarded a coach into the City Centre.
The story is about a little mouse who is looking for a tasty nut to eat in the forest. Along the way, the mouse meets a fox, owl and snake who all want to eat the little mouse. Although small, the mouse manages to outwit all three animals, by telling them that he is going to meet the Gruffalo.
The girls went on the interactive journey with the actors, through the Gruffalo wood and were all extremely brave when the Gruffalo finally appeared! They all thoroughly enjoyed the performance and they made some very good impersonations of the Gruffalo along the way, helping the little mouse to fend off the sly fox, clever owl and the silly old snake.
The performance was a British Sign Language Performance so your daughter may have picked up some sign language along the way!
