Festive season underway with EHSPA Tree Lighting service

Parents

01 December 2017

The inaugural Tree Lighting event hosted by EHSPA took place on Wednesday, a fittingly crisp and frosty evening.

Girls and parents were very excited on arrival to be greeted by three live reindeer who seemed to really enjoy the attention given by girls of all ages from Nursery to Sixth Form, and staff and parents.

The crowd were able to warm up a little inside with festive treats including mince pies, chips and hot drinks. Father Christmas also attended and many girls visited him in his grotto.

To add to the atmosphere, the Year 6 Hand bell Ensemble performed a number of Christmas carols. The EHSPA has generously donated several sets of hand bells to the school this year so this was an excellent opportunity for parents to enjoy hearing them in action. The music was extended to include some communal singing of carols.

At 4.10pm the main event of the evening took place. The ‘snow’ fell, the countdown began and the lights were switched on to rapturous applause.

The EHSPA Committee would like to thank all volunteers who give generously of their time and hope that girls and parents enjoyed this new event on the school calendar which we are sure will be repeated.
