Working Party at the Allotment

Preparatory

24 June 2022

On Sunday 19 June, the school allotment at the Guinea Gardens was opened up for pupils and their families to come and join a working party. After a very wet Saturday the day before, the weather was kind and we were able to get many jobs done.

We planted a bed full of sweetcorn, harvested the onions and garlic that the Year 6 girls had planted last autumn, sieved some of our home grown compost and dug a pathway next to one of the hedges as well as doing some much needed weeding jobs in the communal orchard. Children enjoyed completing a Scavenger Hunt and Navleen and her sister Harveen were the overall winners!

All the helpers were rewarded with tea and an amazing selection of homemade cakes; thank you for all the support shown. The allotment will be open for visitors in the summer months with dates being confirmed before the end of term on Friday Headlines. If you are interested in taking charge of the watering for a week over the summer holidays then please contact me on hobbsl@edgbastonhigh.co.uk

Thank you once again to all parents and families who came last Sunday. It was lovely seeing the allotment being used and the girls having so much fun!
