A Fine Evening for Prep Summer Concert

Preparatory

24 June 2022

On Wednesday 15 June, we held the Prep Summer Concert in person for the first time in nearly three years. It was wonderful to have the girls performing together once again, and made us realise just how much we had missed these communal events.

The concert featured our vocal and instrumental ensembles and was opened by our Prep Orchestra. They played March from the Nutcracker, Theme from The Water Music and finished with Bohemian Rhapsody.  This was followed by the Guitar Ensemble playing Shake it Off.

Three choirs performed during the evening.  It was a very first performance for our Year 1 and 2 Choir who stole the show with their Gingerbread Man selection of songs, with actions. The Senior Prep Choir sang Can You Feel the Love Tonight and the Junior Choir performed Whistle Down the Wind and Any Dream Will Do.  It was clear that the girls had enjoyed working together.

Our final two ensembles to play included the Flute Group and the String Group, both made up of girls from across a range of age groups. The flautists played Scarborough Fair and Annan Polka and the string players performed La Cucaracha.  All of these pieces had been arranged for our girls by Mrs O’Malley, one of our Music teachers at EHS.

A delighted audience left having enjoyed a melody of music on a beautiful summer evening and looking forward to our next performance.
